Audience

Who its for

To my understanding audience is Who will read (or hear) what you’re writing. Types of audiences include, known, multiple, unknown. Its also important to assume they know nothing about your topic. I didn’t really have a problem with this compared to the first day of class because to me its pretty straight forward. Audience is who its for and who is your work is being directed to.

From the beginning of the semester, my grasp of this element has clearly progressed. I consider my target audience more carefully and how it relates to my mission. My audience used to be quite broad and generic, but today it is lot more specific. I used to write primarily on our own grasp of the subject, but now i consider what my intended audience already knows and needs to know. Even the manner in which i write, including tone and word choice, is influenced by who im writing for. As a result, the work’s content is influenced by the audience.

The above image is my audience for the memo assignment we had. As you can see these two audiences are the people this memo were directed and written to.

This above image is from one of my lab report audiences.
